Betty Carol Wallace Brand (December 7, 1934 - July 6, 2016) went Home to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 6th after a long life with loving family and friends around her. Betty spent her life caring for others and sharing her generous loving spirit with all those she encountered. She worked to put her husband through Medical School while raising a family, and she managed his medical practice for over 50 years. She was critical to his success as a doctor and she worked tirelessly beside him to care for the community as well as our family. Her family and friends meant everything to her and she was so proud of all of our accomplishments. She was very active in Westwood Baptist Church and she demonstrated her deep faith in God in all aspects of her life. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity to others. She was our family''s rock and she will be greatly missed.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Oliver Brand. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Claude and LaTrieve Wallace, and her siblings, Joann Gulledge and Claude Wallace, Jr. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and one great-grandchild: David and Grace Brand; Carol and Bill Owings; Stephen Brand; Briann and Tim Taylor; Shelly, Brian and Martin Floyd; Kristen Brand and Tommy Majors; Daniel and Emily Owings; Robin Owings and Chris Monahan; Megan Taylor; and Alexandra Taylor. She is also survived by her brothers, Pat Wallace, Larry Wallace, and Jerry Wallace, her sister, Martha Miller, their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing and funeral service will be held at Westwood Baptist Church, 2349 Forestdale Blvd., Birmingham, AL 35214, on Sunday, July 10th. Viewing is from 2:00 - 3:00 PM The funeral service will start at 3:00 and a private graveside service will follow for family members only. Bro. Charles Click will be officiating and Frank Roberts will be the soloist. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westwood Baptist Church of Forestdale, Alabama.
