Billy Lawrence Black
11/13/1951 - 05/01/2025
Billy Black was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He left his earthly home to join a host of loved-ones in Heaven on May 1st of 2025, at the age of 73. On November 13, 1951 he was born to Lawrence and Willie Black at US Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. Soon after, they moved to Adamsville, Alabama where he spent his childhood years. After leaving Minor High School, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army. While on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Click, the day after Christmas in 1969. They then started their family in Flordia, but soon retured back home to raise 3 beautiful daughters. He began working for the railroad, where he would spend 10 years. The remainder of his working years were spent on the road as a truck driver, who was awarded the "Million Mile Saftey Award" totaling over 2 million perfect miles with Old Dominion Freight Line, just before retiring in 2018. He enjoyed his retirement relaxing and spending time surrounded by the ones he loved most.
Billy had a large family, who he adored, including his loving wife, Peggy Black, three daughters, Tina Wippert (David), Ginger Rotenberry (John), and Billie Michelle Hester; sister Ann Graham (Frank); brothers Marty Black (Carol) and the late Robert Black; six grandchildren, Kristen Thompson (Chance), Riley Massey (Aaron), Madison Samples (Noah), Preston Hester, Savanna Hester, and Casey Wippert; and a total of four beautiful great grandchildren with one on the way.
"But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."
I Thessalonians 4:13-17 NKJV
