Obituary

Carolyn Young Parkin walked into the loving arms of the Lord on March 2, 2022. Carolyn Marie was born December 19, 1942 to parents James Hudson and Irene Long Young. She grew up in Minor Heights and graduated from Minor High School.

On November 23, 1961 she married Glenn Martin Parkin and graciously accepted her role as a Methodist minister's spouse. Together she and Glenn served churches for 43 years in the North Alabama conference which included Cottage Hill, Walker's Chapel, Jones Memorial, Inglenook, Midway, Bellevue, Grace, Haleyville First, Cottondale, Muscle Shoals, and Monte Sano.

Carolyn was always a happy person and had the sweetest smile and laugh which reflected the joy of Christ within her heart. Beyond their ministry, Carolyn and Glenn enjoyed many days at their condo at the beach and their home on Weiss Lake.

Carolyn is survived by her loving son David Glenn Parkin of which she was particularly proud. Special thanks to Joy Williams and a circle of ladies from the Monte Sano United Methodist Church who cared for and supported Carolyn for many years after Glenn's passing in 2004.

Rev. Dale Clem will conduct a graveside service on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Crumly Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Memorials to Embrace Alabama Kids, formerly known as Methodist Children's Home, 3140 Zelda Court, Suite 100, Montgomery, AL 36106-2607.
