Clyde Edward Fieselman Sr. of Forestdale, age 91, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017.
He was born to Harry and Leah Fieselman, grew up in Birmingham, and attended Ensley High School. Mr. Fieselman was a standout football player for the Yellow Jackets, earning All-Southern honors from the Orlando Sentinel in 1943 and receiving scholarship offers from seven colleges, including Alabama and Auburn. Instead, Mr. Fieselman served in the U.S. Army in World War II as a private first class, and earned a Purple Heart when he lost a toe in the Battle of the Bulge. When he returned to Birmingham, he spent 47 years as a firefighter for Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service at Fire Station No. 3 before retiring in 1998. Mr. Fieselman was a member of Westwood Baptist Church and the International Association of Firefighters. He was a great fan of the Atlanta Braves and Alabama football, coached the Florida Grill women's softball team for many years, and loved his family dearly.
Mr. Fieselman is survived by his loving wife, Doris; his daughter Lisa, his son Eddie, and granddaughter Brooklyn; a brother, Charles A. Fieselman Sr.; Lisa's fiancé, Paul Beaudry, and special family David, Kim and Kristy Blackmon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Fieselman; and a sister, Elizabeth (Fieselman) Collins.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home Forestdale, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with burial to follow at the Fraternal Cemetery in Pratt City.
