Deborah Kay
Smith
Feb 27, 1950 — Jul 5, 2025
Woodstock
Deborah Kay Smith was born on Feb. 27th, 1950 in Birmingham to Billy Joe and Louverla Smith. She entered Heaven and met Jesus face to face on July 5th. She was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, unable to walk, and a severe mental handicap shortly after birth. Even with these challenges, she enjoyed her family and friends. She loved music and listened to her radio and record player for hours each day. Some of her favorite music came from church and an old Baptist Hymnal. She had memorized many hymns, and through nightly Bible reading of her parents, she learned to quote John 3:16.
She traveled extensively with her family and camped in 48 States and all the Canadian Provinces. Her family were members of a Camping Club called the Steelbillies, and she would often sing "You are my Sunshine" with the members of their band. Deborah lived a very full and happy life because of God's Grace and her immediate family and many friends.
Deborah was preceded in death by her Father, Billy Joe Smith and Mother, Loverla Smith; Grandparents, Earl Otto Smith and Sadie Hayes Smith, Grady Gladstone Smith and Verla Olean Smith.
Deborah is survived by Brother. Stanley Ray Smith of Childersburg, AL; Brother, Douglas Gregory Smith (Frances) of Woodstock, GA; Nephews, Matthew Thomas Smith (Stacey) of Childersburg, AL; Timothy Justice Smith (Taylor) of New Port, RI; Jason Andrew Smith (Emily) of Riverview, FL; Jonathan Alan Smith (Erin) of Brandon, FL; and Niece, Crimson Smith Renney (Matt) of Canton, GA; and a Host of Cousins, Family and Friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10th at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Trussville. Bro. Herman Pair will be officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 am until time of service.
