Douglas Ray Gober, Sr., age 84 of Birmingham, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1952-1956 with the Seabees. After a career spent as an ironworker, oftentimes working alongside his father and brother, Ray retired from iron working after 50 years of service. After retirement Ray spent time volunteering at the Graysville Community Center. He is survived by three sons: Douglas R. Gober, Jr. (Victoria) of New Orleans, Louisiana, B. Keith Gober (Traci) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Ty D. Gober of Birmingham, Alabama. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation is Sunday, September 29 at Bell Forestdale Chapel 6:00-8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 30 at Midway Cemetery in Adamsville.
