On January 7, 2023, Edna Jeanette Hudgens peacefully left this earth, surrounded by her family. She joins her beloved husband, Louie Joseph Hudgens, and son, Ron Phillip Hudgens in heaven. She was 6 days shy of her 94th birthday.

Jeanette lived her life full of love, determination, kindness, resolve, and faith. She was a devout follower of Christ, a daughter, sister, loyal friend, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother. She made her home in Sandusky, Alabama where she lived for over 60 years: a place of card games, family gatherings, laughter, caramel cake, and meals with so much food! It was a safe-haven and a place full of love where many were nurtured and guided.

While her beginnings were humble, Jeanette was steady, smart, and determined. She was born on January 13th, 1929 to Nora and Edward Gill. Her siblings are Charles Gill, Maurice Gilbert, and Bobbye Cook. She met and married Louie Joseph Hudgens on August 9, 1946. They had four children; Dawn Wade, Kyle Hudgens, Ron Hudgens, and Fran Garganus. After becoming a widow at age 62, she earned her GED, passed her driver's license test and got a job at Walmart, where she worked until the age of 88. She was a beloved friend and confidant to her work family. She was a faithful and active member at Sandusky First Baptist Church. She was blessed with nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren.

Jeanette will be remembered earnestly and missed dearly. She was a faithful servant in all of life's many endeavors. She loved her family and God wholeheartedly. The family will receive friends from 12pm-2pm on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Bell Funeral Home in Forestdale followed by a funeral at 2pm. Graveside service to follow.
