Elzie Doyle Self, Jr. 61 of Birmingham, Al, passed away on February 20, 2021. Elzie Doyle Self, Jr. was born in Birmingham to Elzie Doyle Self, Sr. and Margaret Pearl (Reno) Self on January 3, 1960. Elzie graduated from Minor High School in Adamsville in 1978. He began his higher education at Samford University in Birmingham, studying music education in 1983, then completed his masters at the University of Alabama in 1992. Elzie was a music teach er and minister of music. He enjoyed attending church and singing. Elzie is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by Daughters, Ashlynn Self Hyche (Justin) and Elisha Self Budlong (Jared); Sisters, Anoree Lowery, Marilyn Jones and Sheila Hasenfuss; Grandchildren Addisyn Hyche, Josiah Budlong; Rhys Budlong and Ian Budlong and Former wife, Pamela Crumbley. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the UAB Transplant Center. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25 ^th at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday One Hour Prior to Service.
