Obituary

KAY, ERNESTINE JOLLY, age 80 of Sandusky, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 10, 2013. Her happiest moments in life were when her family and loved ones were happy. She was known for her care-giving and compassion, always putting others' needs before her own. She always looked on the bright side of life, despite facing much loss and adversity. Even in illness she always kept a smile and those that knew her had no idea how ill she was and that's the way she wanted it. She did not want anyone to worry about her. She was born in Sandusky, Alabama, attended Minor High School and was an active and loyal member of Sandusky United Methodist Church all of her life. For 34 years she was a devoted and integral part of Forestdale Veterinary Clinic. During her illness she talked about heaven, looking forward to reuniting with her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Helen Jolly of Birmingham, husband L. Richard Kay of Birmingham, son Richard Michael Kay of Helena, brother Jimmy Jolly of Birmingham, and sister Billie Jolly Grills-House of Hoover. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Kay Johnson (Danny) of Gardendale, daughter-in-law Tamela Vernon Kay of Helena, AL, Grandsons, Wesley Ray Johnson (Tonya) of Kimberly and Richard Daniel Johnson of Gardendale, great-grandchildren Skylar Brooke Johnson and Reeves Wesley Johnson of Kimberly. Sisters Mary Carroll Kizziah and Ann Jolly Baker (Jerry) of Birmingham, brother Jack Jolly (Carol) of Morganton, North Carolina. A special cousin Gerry LeFoy Rogers (Don), sister-in-law Betty Kay Curtis of Homewood and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 13th at 3:00 p.m. at Bell Forestdale Chapel with a Private Burial at Valhalla Cemetery. Rev. Danny Hallman will be officiating the services. Visitation will be on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Family request memorial donations may be made to Sandusky United Methodist Church, 430 St. Clair Street, Birmingham, AL 35214.
