Gerald W. (Jerry) Abney age 71 of Gardendale, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. He was retired from City of Birmingham after 32 years and from Crown Central Petroleum after 20 years; he was a member of Brookside Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. & Evelyn Fuller Abney. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Mathis Abney; daughter, Kathy Mullins (Bobby); son, J. J. Abney (Karen); brother, John W. Abney (Mildred) of Brevard, N.C.; two grandchildren, Katie Mullins and Trey Abney; two step-grandchildren, Clayton Mullins and Dawn Fulton (Dennis); two nieces, Sharon Hargraves and Teresa Capps; also survived by John Howse a much loved and close friend and fellow Mason that made sure his brother mason was taken to every meeting he was able to go to. Friends are nice especially old friends! The family would like to thank Dr. Duane Shroyer & Staff; Dr. Rick Lyerly, Pam & Staff; Dr. Donald Walters & Staff and Expect Care Hospice.
