Helen Wingard Lollar, September 20, 1919 - March 23, 2015. Helen "Bootsie" Wingard Lollar, 95, passed away on March 23, 2015. She was born in Walker County. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Wingard; her husband of sixty years, Richard John Lollar, and her sisters, Aline Hill and Ina Mae Davidson. She is survived by her sister Vera Lollar, her two daughters Martha Reed (Don) and Sarah Stewart (Joe), three grandchildren, Joseph Drew Stewart (Ronda), Dr. John David Reed (Olivia), and Julie Stewart Martina (Brent); and four great grandchildren, Grey Stewart, David and Annie Reed, and Bennett Martina. Helen was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. in math and a M.A. in library science. She was an active alumnus and remained a true Crimson Tide fan her entire life. She was a devoted teacher for many years at West Jefferson High School. She was a member and one time president of Delta Kappa Gamma. Helen was a faithful member of West Jefferson Baptist Church and served as church treasurer and Sunday school teacher for more than fifty years. Helen dearly loved her church and her family. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 25th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Bell Funeral Home Forestdale Chapel. Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery. Dr. Paul Hicks will be officiating. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Debbie Bozzell, Diane Raymond and Patricia Eddings as well as her many friends at West Jefferson Baptist Church and the West Jefferson community who were so incredibly kind and helpful to her.
