James Harold Barnes was born August 28, 1934 and he passed away at 92 years old on Sept 28, 2026.

Mr. Barnes will be missed deeply by all who loved and shared in his life. He was a dedicated member of Gardendale First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Jane Barnes.

He is survived by his son Phillip Barnes (Lisa) ; Daughter, Janeen McCoy (Nathiel Crook) , Grandchildren; Nathan Barnes (Heather) and Brian Barnes. He also leaves behind one great grandchild, Rylee.

In recent years Mr. Barnes went to live at Covenant Place of Gardendale where he created many memories and friends. While there he received exceptional care from all who cared for him. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all that cared for him during his time there.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, October 1, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. in the Bell Funeral Home Forestdale Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior starting at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Crumly Chapel cemetery in Forestdale. There will be no graveside service to follow.
