Obituary

Kenneth Lee Looney, born February 9th 1949 passed away February 7th 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents JW and Myrtle Looney; his brother John Douglas Looney; his sister Nancy Looney Snow; his son Keith Douglas Looney; grandson Dylan Drinkard. He is survived by his wife Janice Stokes Looney; daughters Shelly Brown husband Darrell, Sandy Drinkard husband Danny; daughter-in-law Shea Nichols Looney; Sisters Rita Myrick and Mary Kiker. He has seven grandchildren Casey, Cody, Colton, Taylor, Josh, Haley and Hannah six great-grandchildren Skyler, Levi, Kember, Preston- Grace, Kennedy (Lil Kenny), and Jolie May and a large host of nieces and nephews. He grew up in Alden Alabama served in the United States Marine Corps for 3 years of active duty serving in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart Silver Star Vietnamese service medal award and Vietnamese campaign medal. He also received a National Defense service medal. After getting out of the Marine Corps he went to work as a union coal miner for many years later becoming a mine Foreman for Jim Walter resources until his retirement.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything his grandchildren wanted to do.  He will be missed dearly. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9 th at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens. Bro. Mike Kiker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
