Linton M.
Smith
Sep 17, 1946 — Oct 1, 2021
Adamsville
Dr. Linton M. Smith, Jr., 75, of Adamsville, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 1 st . He was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church in Forestdale, Alabama for 32 years, under the ministry of Pastor Charles Andrews; where he was ordained and licensed to preach. Brother Smith was born September 17, 1946, son of the late Linton M. Smith, Sr. and Frankie Johnston Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Smith Simpson. He is survived by Lisa, his wife of 43 years; children, Stephen (Erika), of Warrior, Alabama; Deanna (Brian), of Homewood, Alabama, and grandchildren, Jackson, Cooper, and Cameron, of Warrior, Alabama. Brother Smith was born again in 1972 and immediately began witnessing to others about their need of salvation. After searching for the truth and attending various Bible colleges for several years, he graduated from Pensacola Bible Institute, and shortly thereafter, God called him to be a missionary to China. Brother Smith and his family served in Taiwan for 3 ½ years, Hong Kong one year, and in January of 1992, God put them in Communist China in the city of Zhengzhou. This, of course, was impossible; but if you asked Brother Smith about it, he would quickly tell you that nothing is impossible with God, and that God can do what He wants to do. To the glory of God and His Savior Jesus Christ, many underground churches were started, along with an ACE Christian School, Grace Bible Institute, and the Little Sparrows Home for Disabled Children. By the grace of God alone, these ministries are still thriving under the leadership of Pastor Jimmy Chang, his son in the Lord. Brother Smith received his Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, and Doctor of Divinity degrees from Temple Baptist Bible College and Seminary. He authored several books: Baptist Distinctives 1 & 2, Not By Might Nor By Power; Faith: It Works, and co-authored Gloryland's New Christian Series. Most of his works have been translated into many languages. Brother Smith was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Because of his love and devotion to the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, many people at home and abroad were compelled to know, love and steadfastly serve their Savior.
The funeral service for Brother Smith will be conducted on Monday, October 4 th , 2021; visitation is at 10:00 and service at 11:00 AM at Gloryland Baptist Church. The graveside service is reserved for family only.
