Roger P. McCondichie - Born December 23, 1944 and entered Heaven on October 6, 2021. As Roger entered the gates of Heaven, he heard
" Well done, good and faithful servant …"
He is survived by Sherri, his wife of 56 years; sons Chris McCondichie (Tina) and Kip McCondichie (Misty) and daughter Alisha Pickle (Pat); grandchildren Hannah Jones (Lee, Griffin, Easton, Jett and Ellie), Alex Thomas (Judd), Blayse Pickle, Corbin Pickle, Annmarie McCondichie, Krislyn McCondichie, Carlee McCondichie and Cayden McCondichie; sister Carolyn Grinstead (Bill); sister-in-law Glenda McConnell and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Roger was loved by so many.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Helen McCondichie; brother, Gordon McCondichie and sister, Shirley Morton.
Roger was extremely proud to live in and represent his hometown of Brookside, Alabama. First as a City Councilman for 16 years and then as Mayor for the last 29 years. He was the longest serving Mayor in Jefferson County. Roger was a lifelong member of Bivens Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as the Chairman of the Church Council. To share his love of Jesus, Roger also served as a Gideon for most of his adult life. During his time as a Gideon, Roger was able to share the Gospel of Jesus with so many throughout the world. Heaven is full of people waiting to say "Thank You".
Visitation will be at Bivens Chapel United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 4:00 pm. Service will be at the Church on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 10:00 am with burial in Bivens Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Gideon's International or the Brookside Boys and Girls Club.
