Mildred Louise Carroll Allen

August 10, 1929 – April 3, 2024

Mildred Louise was born August 10, 1929 to Ella Mae Garrett and Elmer Minton Carroll in Nauvoo, Alabama. Most of her childhood was growing up in the Elyton Village part of Birmingham taking the streetcar each day to attend Woodlawn High School.

After high school she exchanged a few letters with a young man in the navy stationed in the Philippines. Soon after the end of World War II, Mildred married that young man from the Acipco area of Birmingham on June 7, 1947.

After marrying they moved to the Forestdale area living in the house, they built for more than 50 years. Mildred was a long-time active member of Crumley Chapel United Methodist church and very active in supporting all the schools her four children were enrolled. Mildred began working at W.P. Ballard until she joined Harry beginning their own company in 1966.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Allen, parents Ella and Elmer, brother Waymon, sisters, Hazel, Beaulah, Mertice and grandson Nathan. Mildred is survived by her sister Vita, sons David (Pam), Russell, Mike (Ann) and daughter Brenda (William) along with 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5th at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Lynn Dimon will be officiating.
