Remembering Peggy

Peggy was one of those rare people who made life feel lighter just by being in the room. She had a way of talking that drew you in, a laugh that stuck with you, and a presence that made you feel like you mattered. She never met a stranger, and somehow, in just a few minutes, she could become the highlight of someone's day. Everything to Peggy was a little comical, a little dramatic, and always worth laughing about.

She loved being girly—pink pajamas, sparkly silver sneakers, good lipstick, and a wig ready for any occasion—but she was also strong and determined. Peggy wasn't afraid to do a man's job when it needed doing, and she proved it more than once, even breaking both her arms trying to pull weeds out of the yard. That was just who she was: stubborn in the best way, independent, and always moving.

Peggy found joy in the simple things. Sweet corn, a good quiche, HGTV playing in the background while she redecorated her bedroom or living room—sometimes seven times—until it felt just right. She loved QVC, thrift stores, and a good bargain, and she took pride in always having at least her lips on, even on the quiet days at home.

She was always cold, always cozy, and happiest in her pajamas. She loved Elvis, Dolly Parton, and Brad Paisley, whom she was so proud to meet. She could watch Facebook reels for hours, especially the funny ones and the singing ones, replaying them again and again, laughing like it was the first time.

Peggy worked hard for 20 years at BellSouth and AT&T. She loved phones, loved talking, and truly loved people. She hated cooking but she always tried and she loved Brenda Gantt anyway. She didn't care much for cruises or long car rides, but she did enjoy going out to the BFW for one Fireball shot before heading home.

Through surgeries, health struggles, and life's hardest seasons, Peggy never lost her humor or her heart. She met everything with grace, laughter, and a little bit of sass.

Peggy showed us how to live colorfully, love openly, and find joy in ordinary moments. She reminded us that laughter can carry us through hard days, and that love, when given freely, never really leaves.

She will be deeply missed but her laughter, her stories, her style, and her love will stay with us always.
