Obituary

Ronald David Lay, Sr., 79 of Bagley Community went to be with our Lord on January 10, 2018. Born in and lived in Jasper (Sunlight) community before moving to Birmingham. Born to James Carlin Lay and Margaret Alween Aaron Lay. He moved and grew up in the Crumly Chapel community. Attended Crumly Chapel School and Minor High School. He married Carol Hullett in 1959 and remained in the community till 2007. Served our Country for 11 years in the National Guard. In 1964 the National Guard activated his unit to help with the Civil Rights Movement. He was assigned to Highway Patrol and thats where he developed his love for law enforcement. He went to work for the Sheriffs Department in 1965 and retired in 1999 as a Sgt. Detective. Preceded in death by his Parents. He is survived by his Beloved Wife of 59 years, Carol; Sons, Ron (Vonda) and Curt (Dawn); Brothers, James (Shirley), Rayford (Peggy), and Randy (Marlene); Grandchildren; Matt, Robby, Roni Lay; Salde Sargent; Justin & Faith Moore; Joshua & Courtney Moore; Christin Moore; Myah Miller & McKenna Lewis; Great Grandchildren, Kaden & Bentley Moore and Numerous Nieces & Nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 13 th at Westwood Baptist Church with burial to follow at William Chapel Cemetery (Jasper). Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale directing.
