Ruth "Tootsie" Hamm, age 89, of Mulga, Alabama, departed this life on Monday,

January 19, 2026. Born on July 30, 1936, Ruth lived a life defined by devotion to family,

faith, and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and Ruben Wilson; her brothers,

R.J., Robert, and Claudie Wilson; and her beloved husband, James William "Bill" Hamm.

She is survived by her children: J.D. Terry (Joann), Charlie Terry (Sheila), Wesley Terry (Linda), Debbie Thrasher (Kerry), and Ricky Hamm; her stepchildren, Robbie Clark,

Mary Rhodes (Buzzy), and Jerry Mallock (Jay); her siblings, Mildred Posey, Martha Sue Jones, Edward Wilson (Mary Edna), and Wayne Wilson (Sheila); and her grandchildren,

Russell Matthew and Karliee Terry, Klint Thrasher, and step-grandsons Kenny and John Drake. She also leaves behind a host of cherished great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a longtime and faithful member of Westmont Baptist Church of Minor. She was employed for several years at Keith's Hardware before becoming a dedicated

Liberty National Life Insurance agent. Deeply loved by her policyholders, Ruth often went far beyond her professional duties, especially during times of loss, offering

comfort, guidance, and compassion when it was needed most. Ruth's life was marked by service, as she faithfully gave her time and care to meet the needs of those around her. Whether arriving with her Georgia cornbread or a warm,

freshly baked pound cake, she shared love through service. She devoted countless hours to the community of Mulga, serving as a City Councilwoman and acting as Mayor Pro Tem.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 23rd at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Village Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service a 11:00.
