Sara Katherine Moody, age 90 of Gardendale, Al (formerly of Hillview) passed away Friday, December 27, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Joseph (Cecil) and her son, Donnie. Mrs. Moody is survived by sons Eddy (Doris) and Steve (Margaret); grandchildren Matthew Moody (Sarah), Sara Ann Faile, Paul Moody (Brandy), Jonathan Moody (Luisa) and Daniel Moody; great granddaughters Claire Faile, Sofia Moody, Peyton Moody and Katelyn Moody. She is also survived by a brother Nelson Black (Athens), sister Martha Black (Cullman) and special niece Ellen Wolfe (Bob), and many other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Moody was a homemaker caring for her invalid son for over 50 years prior to his death. She was a devoted member of Hillivew Baptist Church serving as treasurer of the Sarah Sunday School Class. Mrs. Moody served on the bereavement committee for many years and worked tirelessly cooking for functions at the church. She as known in the community for her seamstress skills and made many cheerleading uniforms over the years. Special thanks to Margaret Tallie ("Sissy") and Gloria Presley for their dedication in assisting with Mrs. Moody's care in her declining health. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31st at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Trussville. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11:00 - 1:00. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale directing.
