Steven Wayne Pickle, affectionately known as "Pawpaw," passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, at the age of 69. Steven was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and warmth.
Steven is survived by his loving wife, Connie Cox Pickle, and his brother Rooney (Judy). He was a devoted father to Man (Monica), Misty Neilsen Posey (Shane), Crystal (Justin), and Mike. His grandchildren, who brought him immense joy, include Brandon (Morgan), Bradley, Candace (Crue), Jade, Brady, Annabeth (Jackson), Micaela (Matt), Baylee, Chloe, and Braden. Steven's legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Micah, Marlie, Macklin, Maddox, Parker, Paislee, Kobe, Jamie, Emily, Avery, and Wynter. He also leaves behind a large host of family and friends whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl W. Pickle and Helen Densmore Pickle, his brother Carl W. Pickle Jr., his grandparents Pollie and Lena Pickle, and Alfred and Myrtle Densmore. Steven also mourned the loss of his daughter, Sherry Gooch, his first wife, Brenda Pickle, and his cousin and best friend, Wade "Billy" Pickle.
Steven proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973. He worked for many years at Jim Walter Mines #3 and was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 972, where he also served as a past President.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Bell Forestdale Chapel, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will take place at Bivens Chapel Cemetery in Brookside. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale has been entrusted with the arrangements.
