Obituary

Thomas Virgil Glass, age 95, departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jackson Glass and Evie Vinnie McDaniel Glass, by his wife of 50 years, Annie Lamar Glass, by his daughter Lois Glass Hodge, by his great-granddaughter, Brandee Leake and by two brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his present wife of 23 years, Gloria Null Wooten Glass and by his children, Modera (Gene) Graham; Samuel E. Glass, Evie (Joe) Salter; Vera (Carl) Wideman; Betty (Don) Cagle; Virgil (Glenda) Glass; Robert (Pamela) Glass; Barbara (Gary) Miller; Sarah (Randy) Estes; Sandra (Douglas) Tubbs and by his step-children, Debbie Wooten Winter, Sharon (Richard) Snow, Terri Wooten Trautwein, Denise (Leland) Dockery and Greg (Ginger) Wooten. Thomas is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, a number of step-grandchildren and a very special friend and neighbor, Mr. Mike Marbury. Tom was a member of The Healing Place at the time of his death and was a former member of the Republic Church of God where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was also a lay minister who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart. He was a self-made man who was blessed with many talents. He was a miner, a mechanic, a machinist, a musician, an artist, loved working with wood, and was the holder of U.S. patents. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who dearly loved his Lord and his family. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5th at Bell Forestdale Chapel with burial to follow at Bivens Chapel Cemetery. Rev. Gerald Wilson will be officiating. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale directing.
