Van H. Cruce
March 22, 1927-January 4, 2016
Our sweet Daddy and Papa went to his heavenly home January 4th surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He retired from U.S. Steel. He is truly one of the last of the greatest generation. In the last 2 years he was involved at the Adamsville Senior Center where he had great times with his friends there. He loved his Alabama football and in October went to Coleman Coliseum to hear Coach Nick Saban speak at a luncheon with his son Britt and grandson Zach. He was blind but sure could see well enough to argue with a ref who made a bad call against the Tide.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie. son-in-law Tim, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Kennetha, Son, Britt (Darlene), and sister, June.
Grandchildren, Terra (Chris), Zach (Stephanie), Candace, Kaci (Ben), Emily (Justin), Bubba (Brittany)
12 great-grandchildren who were the joy of his life. Many nieces and nephews and friends who he loved.
Funeral service will be Thursday January 7th at 12:00 PM with a visitation from 10:00 - 12:00 at Bell Funeral Home in Forestdale. Burial will follow at Midway Cemetery. Brother Ed Swenson and Pastor Bubba Massey will officiate.
