Virginia Ellen
Wolfe
Nov 15, 1933 — Aug 5, 2022
Birmingham
November 15, 1933 - August 5, 2022
Virginia Ellen (Moody) (Bradford) Wolfe, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully on August 5, 2022, in Hanceville, AL. Ellen was the first daughter born to Paul Clyde and Verdie Mae Moody on November 15, 1933, in Franklin, Georgia. The family followed her paternal grandparents to Cullman, Alabama, where her grandfather, Rev. Joseph C. Moody, established the Mount Olive Congregational Methodist Church. It was there she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, sealing her eternity, awaiting the hope of heaven, that which she has now received.
After graduating Fairview High School, Ellen went to work at St. John & St. John Attorneys at Law before catching the eye of Clyde Leon (Brad) Bradford, a graduate of Cullman High School, St. Bernard College, and a veteran of the Korean War. They began dating, and soon after Brad received his electrical engineering degree from Auburn University, they married and moved to Birmingham, Alabama for Brad to begin a new job with Tennessee Coal and Iron. They built a new home and began a family, but most importantly, they established their membership at Hillview Baptist Church, where they happily served the Lord together for many years until Brad's death at 49 years of age.
Ellen returned to work full-time following Brad's passing. There at the office of Dr. Oliver Brand, she met the acquaintance of one of their patients, Bobby Wolfe. Soon thereafter, she and Bob married and continued their lives together at Hillview Baptist Church. Ellen taught 7th grade girls in Sunday School, worked in Vacation Bible School, delivered meals to shut-ins, sent cards, and gave of her life along with many other faithful saints who have gone on to be with the Lord. She loved her many lifelong friends who became like family as they ministered together.
Although she touched many lives, her children are most grateful that she led them to a knowledge of and faith in the Lord, so they have the assurance that they will join her for eternity. That was her greatest hope for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ellen is survived by her daughter, Donna McGukin (Jeff) of Birmingham, AL, her son, Richard Bradford (Teresa) of Cullman, AL, step-daughter, Theiry Payne (Steve) of Adger, AL, step-daughter-in-law Lisa Wolfe of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, John McGukin (Natalie) of Lafayette, CO, Jared McGukin of Macon, GA, Joel McGukin (Anna) of Louisville, CO, Bradlee Bradford (Kim) of Birmingham, AL, Emily Bradford of Cullman, AL, Jenny Payne of Adger, AL, Daniel Wolfe (Sarry-Ann) of Saltillo, MS; great-grandchildren, Allyssa Smith, Parker Bradford, Trevor Bradford, Aidan McGukin, Savannah McGukin, and Solomon Wolfe. She is also survived by three loving sisters, Elouise Cutcher, Wilma Burden, and Willene Creel, as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Ellen was preceded in death by her first husband, Brad Bradford, her second husband, Bob Wolfe, stepson, Wayne Wolfe, her brother, Benny Moody, and her parents, Clyde and Verdie Moody.
