Mr. William "Ray" Ballanger, age 75, of Cordova, Alabama, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Ray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a genuinely hard working man. He worked as a coal miner for many years, and later served as Police Chief of Cordova Police Department. He loved his job as police chief and truly loved serving the town of Cordova.  Mr. Ballanger was also a member of the Army Reserves.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Butler and Essie Ballanger, 6 sisters, Mary Lou, Mildred Key, Bobbie Key, Faye German, Diane Stiles, and Movelene "Sis" Key and brother Hughie Ballanger.

He is survived by his wife, Lanell Ballanger, son, Greg Cornelius, daughters, Kenda Davis (Allen), Sherae Brown (Dan),brother Raymond (Marlene) Ballanger, five grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Ballanger will be held at the Bell Forestdale Chapel on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be in the chapel from 12:00 P.M. until service time. Burial will take place at Good Springs Church of Christ Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Tyler Davis, Johnny Stiles, Sawyer Kilgore, Eli Kilgore, Will Skinner, and Alan Hamby.
