William "Billy" Louis Winters of Adamsville passed away Thursday morning at the age of 94. Billy was born in Berry, Alabama but lived the majority of his life in the Adamsville area. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II after being discharged from the Navy he returned to his job at U. S. Steel and retired after 41 years of service. He was a life long member of Midway Methodist Church in Adamsville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eloise and Ross Jones, his brother, David B. Winters. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Shiflett Winters; 2 children, Gay Benner (Paul) and Jeff Winters (Jane), Virginia Smith Cowles (Ronnie); 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and care-giver Judy Mann. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 4 at Bell Forestdale Chapel with graveside to follow at Midway Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Bro. Charlie Brown will be officiating. Bell Funeral Home Forestdale directing.
